Critical Studies in Television is a hard copy journal with separate online access; both formats provide a major international forum for the presentation of original research and sustained intellectual discussion on television. The journal is intended for a broad audience within and extending beyond academia. It is essentially aimed at students, lecturers and researchers of television but it is desired that anyone interested in – or writing about – television will use the journal.
Critical Studies in Television publishes articles on theoretical approaches to studying television or discussions of new developments. Particular editions may focus on series/serials or programmes that capture the imagination, or on dramas or institutional issues that help to understand the phenomenon as well as consider how television has been informed – possibly transformed – as a consequence. The journal also features book reviews and conference reports.
CST online is updated weekly to include industry news, journal, conference and anthology reports as well as 'TV Reflections' (a space for scholars to reflect on various aspects of television studies).
