In existence for over 50 years, The Journal of Transport History publishes the best scholarly articles and research on the history of transport, travel, tourism and mobility, including their relationship with planning and policy. The journal brings together original work by academic researchers and transport and mobility enthusiasts, and curators and researchers from the museum world. It also contains special sections with Research Notes, Surveys & Speculations, short essays on related topics, Museum and Exhibition Reviews, as well as an extensive book review section of both English and non-English books.

The Journal of Transport History is the adopted Journal of the T2M - The International Association for the History of Transport, Traffic and Mobility. Subscription to The Journal of Transport History is included in T2M membership fees.

Online submissions are made via the JTH ScholarOne website: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jtrh. New users will need to first create an account. Once logged in, submissions can be made through the Author Center. If you require assistance with the ScholarOne site, see the ‘Get Help Now’ link in the upper right corner to access the Author Guidelines, contact the ScholarOne team or search the FAQs.

The JTH publishes scholarly research on the histories of all instances of transport, travel, tourism and mobility, including their relationship with planning and policy. Submissions may be original research essays of up to 8,000 words (including endnotes), short surveys / speculations (up to 2,000 words), or reviews of transport history museums and exhibitions (1,500 words).

Submissions should help to advance knowledge and debate about past mobilities and transport. New evidence, argument, angles of approach and analytical perspectives are particularly welcome.

Intending contributors are encouraged to scan previous issues of the JTH to get a feel for the types of papers which are published, and the standards of scholarship expected. Researchers are welcome to submit an article proposal or outline to the Editor before committing to a full submission to the JTH.
