Art & Design

In recent years Manchester University Press has established itself as one of the most exciting publishers in art history and design, well-known for publishing intellectually rigorous and critically acclaimed paperbacks. Bringing the best of art history to a wider academic and student audience, the vanguard series Critical Perspectives in Art History (edited by Shearer West, Tim Barringer and Marsha Meskimmon), reassesses canonical works and movements in light of new interpretative frameworks and publish works on neglected areas of visual culture. Studies in Design (edited by Christopher Breward) provides a much needed forum for placing everyday mass-produced objects and decorative arts in their cultural, artistic and historical context. Manchester University Press welcomes art history and design proposals that approach their subject in a concise and accessible way, as well as advance our understanding of the subject.
