Working for Manchester University Press

Jobs come up infrequently at MUP, but whenever they do we advertise them on http://www.manchester.ac.uk/aboutus/jobs/

If you are interested in gaining work experience at an academic publishing house please contact a member of staff of the department you wish to work in. They will see if there is a vacancy in our work experience schedules.

MUP uses freelance copy-editors but not proofreaders. Because we’re a relatively small Press we don’t take on new freelancers very often. As we don’t have a testing system, we expect copy-editors to have fairly extensive experience of editing the type of academic books we publish and/or to be accredited SfEP members. If you feel you meet these requirements, please send a full CV with contact details for two referees to Rachel Armstrong, Managing Production Editor, at our usual address. We recommend that new freelancers undertake some sort of recognised training, e.g. with the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (020 7736 3278) sfep.org.uk, or with the Publishing Training Centre (020 8874 2718) train4publishing.co.uk.
